Sylvia: Welcome LaKeisha! Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to interview with me. Please tell us about yourself and your business?
Lakeisha: My name is LaKeisha LaGuins aka Kei (Key) I’m a screenwriter, playwright, film producer, Casting director, Actress, Singer/Songwriter yes I wear many hats and I do it well. I’m the owner of Kei LaGuins Productions
Sylvia: What does success mean to you?
Lakeisha: I have accomplished many goals in life success to me is every accomplishment I have achieved. I’m going to fulfill everything I set to do in life. I’m very humble and grateful for my business.
Sylvia: How do you create work-life balance?
Lakeisha: Balance so now that my schedule is clearly up a little I can balance life a little better and spend more family time. I have place a lot of things on hold for the family. I’m taking things step by step day by day and just enjoying life. It can be challenging at times but by the grace of God I have pulled it through. I still have work to be done this is just the beginning
Sylvia: What steps are necessary for a woman entrepreneur who wants to move her business to the next level?
Lakeisha: I balance work and life even if it’s a challenge
Sylvia: It is important to give back. In what way do you give back to your community?
Lakeisha: I give back in so many ways whether it’s helping someone with food or sponsoring events or investing in projects or even sowing in different ministries. I have given to salons, barbershops, other business, actors/actress giving back, buying their projects. I’m going to make sure I can help or assist others whether giving or sharing.
Sylvia: What steps do you think are necessary for an entrepreneur who wants to move her business to the next level?
Lakeisha: Definitely paperwork make sure they register their business open an business account up.
Sylvia: What challenges and opportunities do you see in the present economic environment?
Lakeisha: I just received an offer to come on board and team up for film projects.
I didn’t want to say, but I was called into ministry. I guess that’s why I’m going through so much warfare back to back and God keep fighting my battles.
Sylvia: How do you promote/market your business?
Lakeisha: I promote and market my business social media and word of mouth.
Sylvia: What books and resources would you recommend to other women in business?
Lakeisha: Books I would recommend to other women Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and of course John C. Maxwell books
Sylvia: What advice do you have for women who are just starting out?
Lakeisha: Never give up on your dreams. I don’t care how old you are always keep pushing towards the things you want to accomplish in life. Definitely do research and it’s okay to ask for help. I did but they would tell me to google it.
No one seem to want to help or if they did it was a fee so I took the time to learn things on my own so definitely research and books helped me then I started to network with people if you have business cards pass them out get out their more.I had to Renew my mindset and stayed focused on the goal.Now I know the value in life my value is much greater than me. So always know your worth.
Sylvia: How do you stay connected in mind body and spirit?
Lakeisha: I stay prayed up and always listen to my worship music plus I have a really good support system
Sylvia: What is your favorite quote to live by?
Lakeisha: I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me.
Sylvia: Share with us two industry or general business related tips that could help other women business owners.
LaKisha: It is absolutely true: “Empowered women, empower women.” Be the change that you want to see and the energy that you put out into others will help you uplift your brand. Most of all, be committed to growth. That commitment will push you through all the obstacles that come with pursuing your greatness.
Sylvia: What is your power word? Why this word?
Lakeisha: My power word is Inspire. I love to inspire others even if they acknowledge it or not. Never give up stay prayed up and watch God.
