Sylvia: Welcome LaDonna Cook. Please give our readers an introduction of yourself and a little about your book.
LaDonna: Hi Sylvia. I am an International Multi -Award Winning Bestselling Author, Evangelist, Speaker, Mother of Two and CEO of Nonprofit Planting Positive Seeds. My purpose is to empower and encourage others in overcoming obstacles in life.
I assist individuals in transforming their lives through personal development and implementing resiliency skills with my books and my nonprofit organization. My motto is to empower, encourage and motivate others to take action in their life and discover their champion inside. It’s a part of my mission to reach individuals all over to the world and to assist them to LEAP into their greatness.
Sylvia: Wow, you wear many hats! What inspired you to write your first book?
LaDonna: I wrote my first book to help individuals see how, how mind, body and soul is connected. To look at aspects of our lives that influence the ways we see things. It was a fulfillment of my childhood dream of writing to help to heal others.
Sylvia: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
LaDonna: I want them to know that they are not alone, that they have someone who is rooting for them to win. I want to help them overcome obstacles in their lives by sharing the wisdom of my path.
Sylvia: What was the hardest part of writing your book?
LaDonna: I think it was to truly not get to emotion and stay upbeat. I want to come from a place to be for the people that will read it, what I needed when I was their age.
Sylvia: How did you come up with the idea for this book?
LaDonna: All of my book ideas come from God. It was around 2015, I journal a lot so I wrote to my younger self. I had written one letter to me as a young girl, then the rest of the topics began to come.
Sylvia: How do you combat writer’s block?
LaDonna: I will often stop writing on what I am trying to complete and freestyle on something else. Normally I would begin to pick different topics, or write about what I’m grateful for and then I can go back to writing my original project.
Sylvia: Do you have any advice for other writers?
LaDonna: I would say write from your heart and connect with your readers.
Sylvia: What marketing techniques have you used to sell your books and which ones have been most successful?
LaDonna: I would say showing compassion and your why when talking to others. The reader or customer can resonate with something about your expression and what to buy your book to connect more.
Sylvia: Why should we buy your book?
LaDonna: This book will help to break cycles and change mindsets, in the readers that read and give them a sense of healing if they have experienced anything related to the topic.
Sylvia: Is there a special place that you prefer when you write?
LaDonna: I love my writing desk, it’s where all the magic happens.
Sylvia: What projects are you currently working on?
LaDonna:I am working on more books and workshops.
Sylvia: What is your POWER WORD? Why this word?
LaDonna: My Power Word is Encourage. The reason I pick encourage, is because my mission has always been to encourage others and build them up.
Sylvia: Thank you again!
LaDonna: Thank you as well. I appreciate the opportunity.
